Among the ancient ruins of the fallen world, the great walled cities of the Echo Vale sit as bastions of hope in an otherwise hostile land. Utilizing technology powered by a mysterious language that runs through the Network, metal threads tethered high above the valley, these citadels insulate their citizens from the Wastes, where autonomous machines roam wild and massive wandering cities scour the land for scrap. These machines of the fallen world are known as remnants. Some remnants are tame, living and working alongside mortalkind; others roam the earth, wild.
Recently, a disaster occurred known as the Remnant’s Fury—a virus spread through the Network that caused the remnants to attack in the dead of night. These machines, which once worked peacefully in homes and businesses, assailed hundreds of unsuspecting people in both walled and wandering cities. Autonomous machines have always posed unique dangers—working remnants short out, wild remnants kill for energy—but this was different. This was a massacre.
This game will take place during the immediate aftermath of the Remnant’s Fury. An old contact of yours, Mac the Scrap Jack, has sent out an SOS ping to his allies scattered across Motherboard. His illegal scrap operation is under attack by violent remnants—but perhaps more important is the bounty Priv Maelor Rhodek, the leader of the walking city Argent, has put on remnant cores. Will you save your old friend? Will you use this chance to secure a stronger position within the valley? Or will you uncover the first real piece of evidence for the Remnant’s Fury?
